Rowan Bodhran Drum by arikla

Rowan Bodhran Drum

arikla

Commission piece:
I do not usually paint drums, but when one of my best friends from college contacts me and asks nicely (and sends the drums) I said I'd give it a go. Not too bad if I say so myself :) (Painting tartan is a challenge, though!)

These drums are for her godchildren. Mom is Scottish and Dad is Chinese, so blending the two cultures and sticking with meanings for the children's names was a fun challenge! Child's name has been removed, but that is the only editing done to these images.

Less Chinese influence here, mostly in the Chinese dragon "badge" at the top. Rowan tree, tartan and Juniper Scottish influenced. Owl represents my friend.
