SUBJECT: The New Visitor

I'm...lucky to be alive, it would seem. This is...no--For the first time, I am certain we are truly seeing the walls of our safe haven being torn down around us. I don't necessarily mean the confinements of this settlement, but our very understanding and experience of reality that we as a species had been comfortable with all along. I had wondered when we first came out here how long it would be before such curtains were drawn, and the truer nature of the mysteries that is our Universe would be revealed to us. To quote Arthur C. Clarke, "Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying." Well...I think the only thing more terrifying than that, is finally realizing the answer...

Now, as far as my being alive, I must say the story I was awoken to was...disturbing and intriguing at the same time. Apparently, from what AC has told me, he went into another one of his strange fits that he started having, but this time it was a dream. A dream that seemed so real that at the end of it, he awoke to find me dead by his hand. This fact now has me alarmed and forced me to have AC under heavy observation to monitor his activities from here on out. I hate to subject him to such things, but his agreement to it does fill me with some relief as I can tell he only wants the best for us. The last thing I know he would want is to be a danger everyone.

This now brings me to our...visitor. I mentioned that the answer to the Mr. Clarke's statement was realized, and in fact, it has been. This Kovux fellow, as he calls himself, is an interesting creature without a doubt. He's our first contact with another alien race that us humans have ever had the honor and privilege to have. Thankfully, for a first contact, it has been a good one. Without his help, I would be dead for sure. I must say, his skill and presence of technology is clearly superior to what we have accomplished. I am sure we will learn a lot from him in time. Well, provided he truly wishes to help us. It hasn't been long and I have to wonder what his motives are. Still, I think it's mostly just curiosity, much the same as we have for him.

As far as Kovux goes, he's something to behold. He's not too terribly tall. I think around the five feet range if I had to venture a guess. He appears to be an anthropomorphic lion that's been augmented with technology. If there was ever a simple statement to put it, that would certainly be it. It's funny, actually. Just looking at him gives me the huge impression of him being something out of a science fiction novel or movie. It's just uncanny yet fascinating, really.

Anyway, this evening we have plans to get a large round table together to talk with Kovux and find out all about him and maybe figure out what's been going on with Arctic-Cat. Though, from what Kovux said thus far, he's not too sure himself what may be transpiring. He says he might know some folks that are better adept at the more paranormal type expertise. Kovux seems more keen on technology and the like. I just hope we can get to the bottom of this soon. I would hate to have anything happen to AC or to anyone else from his instability.

My god...if landing on the moon was one giant leap for mankind back then, we're miles from where we started now--literally! My body is trembling in a mix of fear and excitement at how these next chapters of our race will now unfold.
