My Fursona - Commision by Matuska by a-pigeon

My Fursona - Commision by Matuska

a-pigeon

A reference sheet for my fursona, done by Matuska Matuska. The original is here: https://www.weasyl.com/submission/555938/a-pigeon-ref

They're about 5 feet tall.

Duplicating my comment on the original submission, for I was greatly pleased with this:

"This is just what I wanted and what I'd hoped for: I love their facial markings, their shape and physique, the curve of their spine and tail and that little bit of fur from the right side of their face visible below their chin. I've looked at this reference with delight and pleasure, on and off, for nearly an hour while I work.

I had a vision in my mind of my character but my conception of their appearance was hazy and shrouded. But now, I have the great pleasure of seeing something (or someone) from my imagination taking a real shape through your artistry.

Thank you. :)"

Rain laden clouds hung darkly and heavily in the sky this morning when I got up, so that for a minute I thought it was still night, but this really brightened up the day! :D

The picture you have done, it is hard to say how much I like it. All parts of it appeal so much as a design and depiction ; the shape of the head, the markings, the colour, the expression and the quill in hand. It's a wonderful depiction of the character with a lot of qualities to it that are what I admire in art. And the undulating curves of the large and well furred ears, the shape of snout, the big solid nose and the pointy little teeth ; these are the ears, snout nose and teeth of my fantasises and dreams.

So, it makes me happy from an intellectual and sensual perspective. :>

And I was fascinated to see that in the avatar size, the head is slanted at an angle (and I would not thought of doing such a thing myself), and comparing the images it does work better like that at avatar size.

Thank you for that picture It's wonderful. I hope It's OK if I upload the picture to my gallery?

And I should say, I've spent a few few hours over the past few months look through your gallery on here, and your stuff is a store of visual and imaginative delights which I'm glad you share with us. I think a key thing, aside from the curious and interesting subjects, is how the vectors(?) that you use, they have a perfection in how clean and sharp they are, but also a freedom in the shapes and forms they make and what you depict, so a "disciplined freedom" which is the key thing I look for in calligraphy. It's hard to explain these things coherently. I will think more.

      Thanks again. :D
