No, I don't think they're blacklights! There were two of these lights aiming directly at where this sofa was where multiple people, including myself, would come and sit, or just stand to chill. To my knowledge, nobody felt ill because of the lamps, and I don't recall feeling lightheaded, dizzy or otherwise unwell after hanging around the lights and also looking directly in them. A few days later, I also had no feelings of being unwell, and my eyes felt fine as well. Perhaps I was lingering around the lamps too short for anything to actually happen, but as far as I know, I don't think they were blacklights. I think the lighting in the photo could also contribute to making them look like a blacklight, but I don't think they were. :)

UV to my knowledge doesn't cause noticeable symptoms right away. It's carcinogenic, meaning it raises your risk of cancer.

It's the same reason you shouldn't look directly at a solar eclipse. Your fursuit may protect your skin from the UV but your eyes probably aren't protected enough.

Also your suit might get faded from UV bleaching if exposed for too long, though that would take days or weeks of exposure. Sunlight can do that too. I've had that happen to clothing and furniture exposed to direct sunlight for a while.

Are those blacklights? Staring directly at those is dangerous because of all the UV.
