This was from old sketchbook that I did last spring. It was drawn very quickly with pencil and ink for the class. For sketchbooks that show off and sharing. People have told me they like this better than others because it's less rendered, I doubt I agree with them or not. This creature design is copyrighted to me. It was posted on Deviantart and left forgotten. However I have finally decided to dust this off to give this sketch a chance to be on this website to different kind of viewers. It would be nice to hear something about it here.

I have been getting those kinds of complaint from being compared to the Dr.Seuss himself from many people near end of my art college years. I was impressed by those complaints, because he's not one of my influences. However I do appreciate those kind of unexpected complaints by being compared to artists that I wasn't trying to be. That's what makes it very interesting to me so far as a artist. Yes, as a artist all I have to do is make a mess with a pencil and clean it up with a traditional ink brush by hand. Unlike people who try their best at making the pencil stage to be tightest and cleanest as possible on first try, LoL! Thanks for your comment, I do appreciate it.

The... messiness has such a quirky charm.. It has a vibe similar to that of old Doctor Seuss illustration. It's cohesive, it works and feels very deliberate rather than incomplete.
