Practicing vectors.. too slow >_<;
Also sucks if you're stuck with Intel Integrated Garbage- erm, "Graphics," like I am. XP Eh, it's workable, but... :B I work in raster anyways. Krita, to be exact. XP
I know some of the old 2.x releases were slow with some drivers (not to mention AMD/nVidia driver releases tend to be spotty :U), and it still has a few problems with AMD CPUs which can kinda be worked around, by the looks of it (Settings -> Configure Krita -> Performance -> Disable vector optimizations, specifically labeled "for AMD CPUs." XP). What are you using, by the way? Just curious. :U
Well, I'll check first if Krita has new updates then. For art, my favorite is SAI because is pretty fast and straightforward :P but I tend to use others also.. I'm on w10 pc with a i7 cpu and nvidia card.
If you're used to SAI's line adjustment sorcery, stick with SAI. XP I just prefer to stay away from proprietary toolsets (I even do my drawing exclusively on Debian). :U
If you've used Linux before and can work around the driver issues, maybe. You'd probably want to stick with Linux Mint if you're new. If you're more experienced with Linux, I'd recommend Arch Linux as its very flexible and gives you mostly only what you need based on your specifications. Or for lunatics like myself, maybe try Gentoo- and yes, I have completed a Gentoo installation before. A very, very long and tedious Gentoo installation- it even gave a computer science student like me a headache! XP

Vectors are indeed slow. XP Every line, shape, and effect is stored as a mathematical equation that describes how to do each, and when there are a lot of them, it hammers on your CPU. ;P
