She didn't know why they were renegates, it wasn't the moment to think about that. She wasn't born when that happened. They abandonned her community in the depths of the cursed caves for a forgotten reason, but they survived. They absorbed the only element that was possible to assimilate there.
Darkness
Once that was done, the cursed caves became white, sterile. Then, the only hope to survive was to assimilate something else. They trained one of them to steal the core of the elements - the divens - from the others divenkas, no matter the cost.
Sakne soon discovered that she could forge elemental blade from the divens she stole. Being the only warrior of her abandoned village, it was her duty to protect her kind, even if that means to fight the others Divenkas who grew in the lights, under the warm essence of life.
She grew in the pale essence of darkness, she despised them with hate. A group of wanderers was threatening the secret of her village, it was her duty to silent them.
And to bring their divens to her kind, the only way for them to survive in those sterile caves.
She jumped out of the cave, straight in the melee.

The Divenkas are a neat concept from Shalinka, and I really urge you to have a look at the specie.
Here's my take on this concept, a Risea quite 'divenkanised'. I for a moment thought about an alternate story for Risea, but he, I think I have other plans for the now called Sakne, the dark divenkas.
