Leviathan's Superiority by Akaikosh

Leviathan's Superiority

Akaikosh

(Putting the explanation for the picture up here at the top, since I think most people stopped reading the description once I mentioned digestion :P )

I have recently decided to split my Leviathan into two characters. The playful innocent Leviathan who won't digest living creatures is now "Little Leviathan" or "Levi/Little Levi" and is much smaller. He spends most of his time on land, and other than reduced size is exactly the same as the loveable gentle beast you used to know from my "Leviathan Bio."

The "True" or "Original" Leviathan is the one shown here, and is the immense predator of the sea and the guardian of the dragon island of Nyr. He's plenty more violent than Little Levi, and the chances are pretty good that if he swallows you, you're not coming back out again. (Unless you're a dragon in which case you just have to alert him of his mistake. He'll return to the surface and spit you up :P )

So I couldn't think of a better title, big deal. Was better than just "Species Name + Vore" =P

It does make sense though. Leviathan is the largest creature in all the oceans, and he isn't above a little cannibalism from time to time. Normally Leviathan is content to devour ships passing on the surface above, but lately these meals have been far and between, and not the most filling ones either. That's usually when he grabs a nearby and unlucky fellow serpent for a quick - and quite filling - meal.

The faint glow of the prey serpent's lures can still be seen from within Leviathan's bulging gullet as it slides further into his body. The glow will still be visible - albeit not as strongly - once it is fully coiled up in his stomach.

For some reason, Leviathan has no problem devouring his own kind when feeding opportunities are scarce, but he will never consume dragons from the surface. I do have a reason for this beyond personal preference, but none of the folks in my fantasy world know the reason ;) It's because Leviathan here is supposed to be guarding this island named "Nyr" where many dragons take refuge, and preventing any ships from reaching it. He's a protector of the dragons living there, and so he won't harm one. Sea Serpents aren't dragons, and thus Leviathan can use his fellow sea serpents as food when the situation calls for it
