Helaine is Snowhawk's older cousin. She's what could be described as "herd bound," balking at the idea of being too far from her cousin, then after their escape, the group of feln and delphin they had joined.

That certainly made her sale to the Sinisusi estate interesting.

After her sale was completed, and she arrived at the wolves' home, she was gifted to Janus for his birthday. She was pleasant and well behaved, but generally unhappy over the following year. Such an obviously unhappy mare around was not good for appearances. So, some three months after Janus's following birthday, her cousin arrived.

Helaine is generally less impulsive than her cousin, and more apt to take a wait and see approach to any situation. She was extremely hesitant to leave when her cousin showed up, Ulmer's blood still on her hands, exclaiming they escape immediately.
