:: LAS AGUATTAS ::

Size: 30'x30' - 50'x50' (cubic feet)
First Sighted: Various coasts bordering the Gulf of Mexico

At first glance, Las Aguattas are simple behemoth mounds of seemingly animated water. Under inspection, though, scientists quickly determined that the entities are composed of billions of small, cell like structures. These structures are ~1 cubic millimeter, over 99% water, and work in perfect synchronization with one another. Once they are part of a large enough conglomerate they will rapidly take on a hive like society upon themselves. As they detach from the central figure, they exert full effort to return tot he collective.

Las Aguattas typically drag along the ground slowly moving less than 15 mph, but are capable of charging at speeds upwards of 90 mph. The many small particles left in their wake float up to rejoin the main body, causing a thick coat of mist to cling to their recent paths.

Occassionally small globs, reported as smaller than a single cubic inch, and as large as several cubic feet, remain detached from the conglomerate mass. These smaller masses are commonly referred to as Las Aquitiñas. Though not as lethal as in their larger forms, these small conglomerates can still prove quite dangerous.

Las Aguattas, unlike many other newly appearing kaiju entities, are not openly malevolent, and they tend to skirt around centers of large populations. They leave minimal damage to the terrain as well. Though a problem mostly confined to areas with poor water filtration systems, the largest issue reported to date connected to the appearance of Las Aguattas is water contamination. In such areas, it is not uncommon for particles of passing Las Aguattas mounds to enter supplies of general drinking water. This causes the water to become extremely hazardous to ingest, victims experiencing cases of mass anxiety, depression, and paranoia.

Another potential danger from Las Aguattas mounds is their cotracheatic discharges. Las Aguattas pick up debris as they travel, eventually giving their normally clear, watery bodies a muddied appearance. When they become too full, they will undergo the function of cotracheatic discharge. When this occurs, their bodies remain extremely still for roughly sixty to ninety seconds while their innards condense all of their extraneous material into a sphere at their core. Once the material is collected, it is rapidly expelled from an opening that manifests toward the top of the mound's surface. Though the bulk of the expelled material typically lands within 300 feet from the ejection point, smaller pieces of debris have been reported to travel well over a mile.

Las Aguattas have a number of natural defenses. The most distinct of which is their ability to adjust and regulate their temperature. The conglomerates are able to work their trillions of cell units to create massive amounts of friction, heating their bodies until they are coated with a film of boiling skin. Controversially, its cells are also capable of releasing a series of chemical agents that can cause sections of its body to rapidly cool themselves, hardening into thick, icy plates. Not dissimilar from the process of photosynthesis in plants, the particles composing Las Aguattas mounds store light from the sun, using the energy stored to fuel their chemical processes.

Though Las Aguattas mounds typically do not need to resort to anything more than their repellent shells, but in extreme cases, such as when they are antagonized by a rivaling mound, they will lash out thin, tentaclisk extensions of their bodies known as dendratic extensors. These whip-like protrusions can shoot through the air at speeds theorized to be close to 800 mph, giving them the potential to more assertively repel threatening advances.

More subtle, but more more dangerous than both their temperature regulation systems and their dendratic extensors is the Las Aguattas entities' third method of defense: Mental Waves. Though all of their 'thoughts' seem to be primitive and instinctual, the watery entities are indeed capable of thought, and seem to naturally release and respond to mental waves. It's emotions can both manipulate and be manipulated by those around it, potentially leading to devastating results.

[Note: The mental waves from a Las Aguitiñas of two cubic feet has brain wave projections roughly equivalent to a single human adult]

A large enough mass of Las Aguattas particles could potentially hold influence over a small city of people. This was tragically discovered when the Mexican Naval Aviation forces first attacked a Las Aguattas mound in attempt to defend their borders. The assault caused the creature to panic, which then triggered a plague-like wave of hysteria amongst the local battle effort, leading to mass casualties, all derived from human error.

Related incidences were reported at civilian levels. While large masses of particles can force emotions on others, smaller masses, on the other hand, seem to be easily influenced. Attacking the normally docile Las Aquitiñas will cause them to reverberate the contentious emotions, themselves in turn becoming extremely aggressive.

Such discoveries have lead to the recent appearance of "Aguarrian Peace Groups" devoted to the "worship" of Las Aguattas mounds that threaten to pass by the populous. This ensures that the giants remain docile and content, thus in turn reflecting the ecstasy back onto the local populations. The practice, however, has stirred a grand controversy, as it also tends to encourage the creatures to remain in proximity to populated locations.
