This drawing is what I can only describe as a big middle finger to the “creative team” that made the US cover for this movie.
Got tired of looking at my copy so I made new box art for it.
It makes me wonder how quickly those 3D models took to create and render out… Because this took just a smidge under 24 hours to make and it looks infinitely better. Not that I’m bragging, it’s more like… Literally almost any other kind of art would look so much better. 8(
I purposely changed the title from “A Fish Tale” to “A Fish Tail” strictly for the fact that I like the “eye” that’s on just about every other title. That and to prove that despite giving it a new (and pretty shitty) name, you still could have kept the original shape. :/
Sorry that I’m pretty crappy with typography… Though I’d say that it at least gets the point across! Someday I’ll have someone who’s better than me at that kind of stuff help me fix it. For now I just want this OUT.

Thank you! :D Pretty much anything would be better than the original US "art"... But nothing can top the original Danish(and pretty much everywhere else in the world)'s box art. It's so cute. ;o;

What the actual fuck. Do you know the story behind why the title was changed/why they decided to replace the artwork from the original Danish version with the atrocity you link to?
Anyway, this is pretty nice. Stays very true to the style of the movie.

I don't know for sure but I've got a pretty good hunch.
The reason why they changed the name and gave it a shitty 3D cover is probably because they wanted to trick people into thinking they were buying "A Shark Tale" by Dreamworks (Probably Finding Nemo too, even though it came out before either of those movies). You know, like all those other Mockbusters try to do. It's basically a really stupid marketing ploy. And it hurts me so badly that people who know what Mockbusters are will look at the cover of this, laugh at it, and never give it a chance. :( I'll never forgive them. This film deserves SO MUCH MORE respect.Thank you! I tried! <3 I felt like I owed it to those who made this movie since, well... I live in the US and what we did to it was terrible. It makes me feel guilty... This was the least I could do for those wonderful people.

Haha, I just found this: http://slackercinema.blogspot.dk/2012/05/not-to-be-confused-with-7.html - Apparently they weren't the only ones to leech off Shark Tale. I just find it strange how they were even allowed to do this to the US version - I mean, as far as I can tell, that's the -only- place that has happened.And yeah, it's a shame. It's a rather nice looking movie, it doesn't deserve such an eye sore of a cover.

My God. Why would so many studios try to mooch off of A Shark Tale's legacy?? It's not even that good! I don't think it did that good either... So weird.
It is VERY strange. One could say what they did was very FISHY. But it's the only way to explain what they did... We may never know how they got away with it. All we know is that they SHOULDN'T have.No. No it doesn't. :c It's extremely tragic... Which is why I try to show it to anyone and everyone who is willing. XD

I never fully understood why they went with a CGI cover when it looks so gosh darn terrible, not to mention that the movie itself isn't terrible CGI at all. A half-assed attempt at a marketing ploy is the only thing that makes sense, and that's a real shame. The film itself is really good, and this cover redux does it SO much more justice. Great job!
