Ahh, It feels good to work on a sculpture for myself, been a bit since I've done that! :D

This little guy is named Periwinkle. He is a Starfish pup, and is my entry for the MYO contest currently being held by the StarfishPups group on DeviantArt. Ever since I saw the Starfish pups, I fell completely in love with them, so I knew I absolutely had to enter when they announced the contest!

A little about Periwinkle:
He is a quiet and gentle pup that lives on a small island near Panama City Beach, called Shell Island. His favorite things to do include collecting coquina shells that he finds on the beach, and playing with all sorts of sea creatures he runs into.

-I spent a large portion of my childhood in Panama City, and spent tons of time on this very beach. I would spend hours digging through the sand to find coquina clams(which I mistakenly referred to as periwinkles, hence the name I chose for this guy). Periwinkle represents this part of my childhood. I really enjoyed creating this scene and bringing him to life, it brought back a lot of nice memories for me. :)

I had trouble getting the correct colors to display in the photographs, he is a bit more purple than shown here. I'm hoping to finish up a proper ref sheet for him soon, I'll have a link to it when it is complete.

Periwinkle is "life sized" at 2.5" tall and 5" long. ;) He is sculpted from Super Sculpey/Sculpey Firm over a foil armature, painted with acrylics, and sealed with Krylon Matte Finish. He is mounted on a stained wooden base with sculpted details and real coquina shells.

Starfish pups are a closed species owned by Kiboku, Toucat and Colonels-Corner on DA.
