Because every planet that has a large desert area needs a giant worm... though this one is a bit different. Hoshaet is a member of the membra class of animals (so same as Moln) and therefore is much close to a mammal than anything else.
Basically on the planet Desergen there are areas where the sand is very fine is almost as easy to move through as water. Various animals have evolved to take advantage of this niche with this species being the apex predator at the top of the food chain. While hoshaet aren't particular aggressive they are rather nightmarish. They're primarily ambush predators that use their long whiskers to feel prey moving on the surface of the sand and once they close enough they jump them. Assuming the prey is either too large or two switch they bring in another tactic: parasites!
Ya see over time they develop a symbiotic relationship with a large parasitic arthropod, due to their size this bug doesn't usually both them anymore than the average flea but most of their prey is much smaller and not so lucky. So when it encounters something too fast or fierce to catch easily it shakes off some of the parasitics that may attach themselves to their prey which won't kill them but will slow them down THEN they go in the for kill.
Nature is beautiful isn't it?

Fun fact about the design, they're actually a mix of 3 "moles": star-nosed moles (which are actual moles), naked mole rats (type of rodent) and Mexican mole lizards (type of... well lizard) with a few features of my species Moln thrown in to make them look like they belong to the same family. Moln aren't super close related to them but significantly closer related than anything else I've introduced up to now.
