Overheard at the intersection of Boylston St. and Arlington St., right at the corner of Boston Public Gardens where the ice cream truck is.

The little kid had just finished a spectacular tantrum to get ice cream. While mama was making the purchase, the stepdad/boyfriend/friend (clearly not the father) could not contain his frustration. The heat is making everybody cranky.

I saw more of this scene than I usually witness in passing because I stopped to watch the tantrum. A real, no bullshit temper tantrum is an amazing sight.

His attempts to vent at and reason with the child were just as amusing, particularly when the boy ceased to care upon getting his ice cream. The mother seemed completely unconcerned the whole time.
