The Isle of Qaimusu has undergone some hardships in the last eleven years. When a riot ransacked the temple of the Sea Goddess, and many of the priests and priestesses were injured or killed, the island, as a whole, suffered. The cause for the riot, the Sea Death, which had already begun to turn the oceans of Elancia to sand, was effecting more and more people. People began to blame the Sea Goddess, and the resulting riot decimated her temple as well as her base of worshippers.

People who had once come to Qaimusu to worship, no longer came. The village dried up as more and more left town. The village is in disrepair, about half of the population there remaining. This is the scene Verse happens on, upon returning from abroad. It's painful to see one's home become such a wreck, and moreso to know that one's friends have all moved on and away.

To convey this, while I kept the tune the same, I changed the time signature and arrangement drastically. The music that plays in the village (link) , while slightly more whimsical, keeps with the same feeling of regret.

'Maybe I shouldn't have left.' ~ Verse McDowell
