This one is a birthday gift that I made for one of my friends IRL, circa 2006, so this is really old. At that time it was the biggest resolution work in which I worked on (this is just a low res copy, the original was given only to him, but now I don't care so much so IOU the hi res for when I dig in my old PC ^^; )
Worked on it for about 6 hours as a practice for various techniques I wanted to try like Photoshop's use of the Pen Tool, Anime eyes technique , painting fire and Yayster's Pokémon art style.
About this last one I have to say that the result is not exactly the same. It's a very difficult technique (it seems that you need to choose the colors very carefully to achieve the shading a la Ken Sugimori.) The end result was quite good nevertheless. It's like a fusion of my style of painting and Ken Sugimori's style.
Those are the most beautiful eyes I've ever drawn. I totally got the technique. And the fire, shadows and gradients were a nice idea that at the end came out pretty good (poor excuse for a lack of a background but nice result!)
Lastly but not least, I don't have the shame to say that the lineart was traced; Kudos to Kouki Saitoi and his wonderful and beautiful work as TCG illustrator =^_^=
