Species-related Stuff by ACDragon

I think I may have figured out something peculiar about my species. It's been on my mind off and on for quite a few months now, but given my species' history and the attempts by multiple other races to completely wipe us out, it makes sense to me. That said, it's going to doubtlessly offend some folks.

As many of you know, my species, the Elohim, is a race of anthropomorphic dragons. We were worshiped as gods by ancient humanity, we're mentioned in a lot of conspiracy theory and there are some folks in the world who think we rule the planet. But the reality of my people's history with humanity has been about as contrary to most mythology as contrary can get. I won't go into the stories, but there are plenty of past journals and some submissions I've made over the years that explain it all. Most of those are found on my DeviantArt account.

Anyway, it always bugged me how my memories show my people being the intended victims of a genocide brought against us by a race of dragons in the infancy of my species. The genocide itself bugs me, but more than that is the fact that it was begun under a fanatical regime that based its entire reasoning on genetic purity. It also bugged me that my people do appear to be a hybrid race, that we have both dragon and human-like bodily features that seamlessly mesh together, and yet I always claimed that we naturally evolved without outside intervention.

Well, I think I figured it out, and it goes back to two particular things. One is certain features that are common among my kind, and the other is in human languages. My people are taller than humans, we walk like humans, have the torsos and chests of humans, we have navels, we have external genitalia like humans do, and we have pointed, external ears. My people are also semi-warm-blooded, or mesothermic, which is a term used by scientists to describe dinosaurs.

But the most important thing to me in this case is our ears. External and pointed.

I did some online searches and found an interesting thing about my people. Like I said before, my people are called the Elohim. The word is mistakenly translated as "God" in the Christian Bible, but it is in fact plural, and thus would be more properly translated "the gods." But "Elohim" is apparently the root word for several other words, which can be recognized by the use of the first two letters "El." Words like "Israel," which is sometimes written as "Isra'El," and "Angel," are a couple of the more familiar ones, but there was one I found that also has its root in Elohim that surprised me. That word was none other than "Elf." That's right: the Elves of ancient Europe, most popularly recreated in J.R.R. Tolkein's Middle Earth books, are based in stories of my own people, the Elohim.

A few months ago I came across an artist on DeviantArt, which depicted a "half snake, half elf" character. This was the result of a search I did on DeviantArt specifically for "Reptilian Elf." Even back then, the connection was strongly on my mind. For a few months I put it on the back burner, and eventually I confirmed that my people, the Elohim, are either a hybrid dragon-elven race, or possibly one of the inspirations behind the legends of elves throughout history. Personally, given our seemingly contradictory biology I'm more inclined to believe in the former than the latter.

Turns out there are a lot of references to horned and winged elves in artwork. My people have horns and wings, pointed ears, and rather pronounced facial features. It's possible - actually, I'll go so far as to say it's probable - that we Elohim are in fact related to elves in some ways.

All this said, I think that I can understand why we were considered by draconic fanatics to be dangerous enough to their sense of racial purity that they would want to drive us to extinction. Also might better explain the ears, lol.

Oh well. My logic works whether you agree with it or not.
