So, what has Cani been up to? by Cani Lupine

Work. Lots and lots of work. 47 hours a week. My days off are typically consumed by errands and little projects I need to get done, like cleaning, laundry, tending to my car, and sometimes seeing friends. But mostly, I end up just laying down, thinking of all the things I need to do, but knowing I should rest up for the workweek ahead.

But hey, I can't complain too much. Paychecks are good, credit cards are paid off, I'm starting to sock some away into savings, and I'm not struggling to survive. I have enough extra cash to get myself a couple nice things once in a while, but I'm still stuck in an old habit of spending money on others without much thought, but hesitating and walking away when I want something for myself.

A couple bumps in the road, though. Took Rachel to Shenandoah National Park one last time before the year pass expired, and we both got to see black bears for the first time. Unfortunately, so did my car. :/ Thankfully the damage was minor, but with the $1k deductible, I didn't feel like putting myself back into credit card debt to get it all shiny and new again, so I took the $480 check I got from the insurance, replaced the broken windshield washer pump and fender/bumper/headlight bracket, straightened the fender out as best as I could, and called it good.

THEN, I get a call from my insurance about the accident, but it's the one from June. Turns out the lady I bumped is trying to claim injury. She was totally unhurt after the accident, told the fire department and police that she was unhurt, but now is claiming the accident worsened the arthritis in her hip, and wants my insurance to pay for hip replacement surgery. Of course, the cost of that would exceed my coverage, but it's doubtful that she'll actually get anything. One, her condition was pre-existing. Two, her car did not have enough damage to prove the impact caused any injury whatsoever. Three, she has not given my insurance any medical information or authorization for payment, so the whole thing smells fishy. Still, it's an added worry.

Other than that, things have been pretty good. Not totally sure what the future holds, and missing the Northwest, but I've got a safe place to stay, a good job that'll lead to a successful career, and I'm financially stable. Still single, but not really worried about it. I'm focused on setting up my own life first.
