Footpaw/feet classification system for Paw-Posts... by ToeClaws

Okay... before I get to today's Paw-Post (which with constant meetings today is going to be tricky), I wanted to post this first to have something to link back to. Yesterday, Sera and I were having a discussion about some sort of way to rate the type of footpaw along with the other ratings I assign to stuff. In general, I get a lot of positive feedback from the ratings and descriptions because folks like that it often allows them to know if it's something they're interested in right off the bat or not, so to increase that functionality, a rating that explains the type of paw seemed liked a good idea, and Sera had a really good way to break it down - paw classes. So here's how it'll work:

Class 1 (C1) - Basically a human plantigrade foot with nothing more than claws and/or different colours. Most often five-toed, sometimes four toed if it still conforms to a human foot's proportions (IE, small toes, large/long sole). Can also be just an actual human foot.

Class 2 (C2) - Still a pretty human-like plantigrade foot, but with more tweaked proportions where the toes are bigger, pads may exist, and/or the foot could be furred on the top or between the pads. Foot may also have more width to it, or other modifications that make it a bit less of a direct copy of a human foot. The foot may have 2 to 5 toes on it (well, heck, maybe 6 too, but you don't see that often, heh).

Class 3 (C3) - No longer so much of a human foot, but still plantigrade or hybrid plantigrade (as in, might run or move briskly on the toes, but otherwise stands on the heel). Again, toe count can be two or more, but the bigger difference here is much larger toes and a broader food with a smaller length to width ratio. The toes of this type of foot are also less likely to be in a human-like taper, so often the centre toe(s) would be longest with the toe-size being overall more even.

Class 4 (C4) - Digitigrade footpaws. Character stands only on the ball of their foot, and the ratio of the body to the footpaw swings the other way again with a long body and very small heel (since it's not used for load-bearing). Can be two or more toes, pads or no pads. Toes can be short or long.

Class 5 (C5) - Digitigrade, alien/extreme. This is more of a wild-card class which encompasses more extreme takes on footpaws that you might see on a more unique creation. Toes can be any number, long short, varied, unique pad and/or foot design.

So! With this system, you can get a general idea of the type of foot that the link is going to have. :) I know there are plenty of folks on this list who have very particular tastes in paws, so I hope this helps make it quicker and easier to find what you're looking for. ^_^ I can link back to this and tweak/updated it as necessary.
