Librumdex live in libraries and second hand book stores and they take care of the books.
They are separated into different genres and sub genres.
They can have two different sizes. Either very small (about 4 to 6inches big) or around human sized (between 4 feet and 7 feet).
They spend a lot of their time reading and taking care of their books and each individual one can take care of up to 200 books.
A book in its care goes into disrepair because they either died or a human abandoned it while it was still in their possession.
Most of the time they don't tend to books that people own personally unless they have a library of at least 1000 books.
They never take care of new books that have never been owned before.
If one of their books is sold, they'll find a new one to replace it.
A Librumdex only dies if it runs out of books to protect. Even if it has just one book to protect, it will continue to live on.
A Librumdex only takes care of books with in it's genre or sub-genre. If a book falls into it's hands that is the in wrong genre, it will abandon it.

Each genre of Librumdex have specific features but all of them share common physical features.
A single Librumdex can not be based off of more then two genres.
One that is based off of two genres is drawn to books that are based more in one then the other (I.E: A Fantasy/Horror Librumdex will collect books of both genres but will be more drawn to Fantasy books).

Common Features

• Fluffy balls on the ends of their tails that they use to dust off books and shelves.
• Wings that can vary in shape, size, style, and number.
• Curls at the bottom of their ears that vary in length.
• Fluff around their necks, wrists, hips, the base of their tails, and ankles.
• Horns that vary in shape and size.
• Have a single retractable claw on their left or right index finger that drips ink so they can repair faded text.

Genre Specific Features

Fiction based

~Fantasy~

• Are made of bright and vibrant colors
• Have some fantasy like feature (i.e: Dragon wings, unicorn horn, ect...)
• Wear a lot of jewelery
• Always very proud

~Science Fiction~

• Can have mechanical limbs
• Hands, feet, and tips of ears must be either silver, neon blue, or neon green
• Eyes glow
• Eyes can be a solid color with no pupil

~Horror~

• Have darker colors
• Some ooze liquids of any color from their hands, ears, and feet
• Have more then one set of horns
• Can have bat/dragon wings, or tattered wings
• Less fluffy
• Can have fangs

~Comic/Graphic Novel/Manga~

• Tend to have bigger eyes
• Have to have a feature from their character/hero (i.e: base color, symbol, ect...)
• Collect only their specific comics (i.e: Deadpool, Green Arrow, X-Man, ect...)

~Mystery/Crime/Noir~

• Have to have a dark color somewhere on their body (i.e: Dark blue, dark red, black, ect...)
• Red eyes
• Tend to be more anti-social then others
• Have dark red tips on the ends of their ears, tail, and fluff.
• Have slightly smaller wings

~Mythology/Folklore~

• Have some feature based off their mythology
• Collect only one type of mythology (i.e: Greek, Egyptian, ect...)
• Have to have a gold mark on their foreheads, the tips of their horns, and the tips of their ears
• Very elegant
• On the taller side
• Can have a soft glow around them

~Tall Tale/Humor~

• Tend to be tricksters
• Have slightly exagerated features (i.e: bigger ears, fluffier, bigger wings compared to body, ect...)
• Can be mis-matched colors with many patterns
• On the smaller side

~Erotic/Romance~

• Females are extra fluffy everywhere and slightly more rounded
• Males are a little less fluffy
• Shades of red, purple, pink, and black
• Have a heart marking somewhere on their body
• Tips of their tails and ears are always red

~Supernatural~

• Have lighter/paler colors
• Less fluffy
• Bigger eyes
• Tend to be based off of a supernatural occurrence or creature (i.e: Wendigo, Ghost, Woman in White, ect...)
• Have dark colored eyes

Non- Fiction based

~Biography/Autobiography/Memoir~

• Have a feature from the person the book is written about (i.e: hair, clothing style, eye color, markings based off of distinctive scars or jewelery).
• Have natural colors only
• Always have off white faces

~Informational/Textbook/Reference~

• Have to have some feature from their subject
• Collect only books based on their subjects (i.e: Microbiology, Art Therapy, ect...)
• Wear glasses or have markings that look like classes.

~Crafting~

• Have a feature based on their craft
• Collect only books based on their craft (i.e: Sewing, jewelery making, knitting, ect...)
• Can carry around an object from their craft (i.e: Sewing needle)
• Can look like they are made out of their craft (i.e: Clay, fabric, yarn, ect...)

~Poetry~

• Always have long hair
• Slightly thinner
• Always carry a copy of their favorite poems with them
• Have more neutral colors
• Have smaller horns
• Always have feather earrings or feathers in their hair

~Cooking/Culinary~

• Always have short or no hair
• On the slightly bigger side
• Have white chests and ears
• Always hungry
• Usually focus on one type of cuisine (i.e: Indian, American, Italian, Diet books, ect...)
• Like to carry some kind of cutlery with them (i.e: Spoon, knife, fork, chopsticks, ect...)

~Travel~

• Focus on a single place, usually a city. (i.e: Mexico City, New York, London, ect...)
• Have some sort of feature from that area (i.e: Markings that look like clothing/jewelery, popular hair styles, ect....)
• Carry something from that place
• Have colors that coordinate with local flora and wildlife

(This means that they can be either)

~Historical~

• Have slightly dulled colors
• Look a little more fragile/delicate
• Can have ball joints
• Always have historical hairstyles (Fiction only)
• Can have "cracks" in their body like porcelain
• Have some feature that is based from a specific time period or event. (Non-fiction only)
• Collect only books from a specific time period or event (i.e: WWII is different from Holocaust books)

~Audiobooks~

• Have mechanical ears that can play sounds
• Instead of a ink claw, their claws repair audio files
• Have softer fur
• Always have metallic colored eyes
• Tend to be more talkative
• Collect all genres of audiobooks no matter what but tend to focus more towards a certain genre then others
• Can be any colors

~Children's Books~

• Slightly smaller
• Have fluffier tails
• Have bigger eyes
• Always bright colors and simple patterns
• Focus on a single genre usually
• Can only care for 100 books at a time
• Always have something from their genre (i.e.: A cartoon skull for horror, a unicorn horn for fantasy, ect...)

~Animal~

• Focus on one species (i.e: Felines, Canine, Birds, Dragons, ect...)
• Have some feature from that species (i.e: Tiger stripes, Dragon wings, Parakeet markings, ect...)
• Are slightly fluffier
• Aquatic based can have a mermaid form
