Apparently there are people taking issue with the tagging system here on Weasyl. I quite like it, personally, since it means I don't have to worry about tagging stuff, and tags will be added by interested viewers for anything I forget to tag properly. Because of this, though, I can't really understand why people take offense to it, and I'd like some help understanding. What is it about the tagging system that people dislike?

you can add your voice here to the ideas.
Basically, what they're wondering is how can they appease content creators who don't want user generated tags after the themselves tag their content versus viewers who tag things to add to their blacklist.
I've been way too shy to wade into the forum but I rather like the idea of 'looks like' tags and 'is' tags being separate (with extreme reservation in 'looks like' tags - aka heavily geared to blacklist use only).
A lot of the bad tagging stuff I've seen has boiled down to disagreement on the 'am I tagging what it is or what I see' which, the objective on a site-basis has never been clear to me.

There have been tags that were used to basically harass people ):
Other changes would more relate to being able to find out what the heck to tag things or the most effective way to tag something.
