Voice Actor Work by Smokescale

Is there anyone in need of a voice actor?

Work is becoming wholly, unsustainably shit. The client is blaming me, the other two CA's, and the receptionist for not answering phone calls when it's a failing on the part of the examiners, a few especially in particular. So they have demanded a change in how we deal with calls. The change itself isn't horrendously terribad, but it sure isn't a picnic in the park. That change isn't what has me ruffled nearly as much as the fact that we're being used as scapegoats for a larger failing elsewhere on the team.

So, I'm looking to try and expand into whatever other roles I can that could potentially be used to generate income, stuff I like doing.

I like making funny voices. I like recording said funny voices. They don't necessarily have to be funny. They could be more on the serious side. I don't really have a discrete portfolio of my work anywhere, but if you listen to Fur What It's Worth, you can hear me delivering "Space News" and much more recently, some 'retro commercials' that sound like they were taken from some old 1930's radio show. Hell you can probably find a video online of me one year at Furry Fiesta where I was one of a handful of people who did dramatic readings of "50 Shades of Grey" in silly voices.

Right now, I don't have any idea how much I would charge, if anything. I'm just looking to generate content, increase exposure... shut up furries, not that kind of exposure. If at some point I get approached for a lengthy project that requires the services of a voice actor in a more standardized/professional setting, I might consider charging, though I don't know how much. It would depend on the work, how much of it there is, and whether or not it requires a voice or multiple voices that might shred my throat over time. Screaming is awfully hard on the pipes after all. As is something like Dr. Girlfriend from Venture Brothers... unless you smoke a pack a day.

So yeah... that's where I am so far. I'm exploring other alternatives as well. And don't tell me to go apply at voice acting houses like Funimation. They only seriously consider voice actors that have a body of work, which I don't exactly have. I'm working on possibly getting work done on a story I might try to get published, but I'm only three chapters in out of an as of yet undetermined length. If I can generate one or two secondary sources of income, then maybe my primary source doesn't have to be as large... and I can accept a lower paying job that's less stressful, perhaps closer to home. All I know is I can't keep doing what I'm doing. I will end up table-flipping and screaming until the whole office goes deaf. Not exactly a great exit interview.

If you are in need of a voice actor, or know someone who is, please drop me a line or have the person you know drop me a line so we can at least discuss it.
