That's what today is.

So many things to be proud of. The fact that we're repeating champions of Olympic Hockey, the invention of the Java programming language; Basic robotics, zippers, velcro & a type of concrete which allows the world to build highway interchanges. We have change this world in many way just as other countries have & yet I think the best is yet to come.

Here's a couple of myths about Canada I can bust right off the bat:

It's always cold up here:
Nothing could be more farther than the truth. As long as your below the arctic circle, which the vast, vast amjority of Canadians are, the summers are very warm & nice. Temperatures here in Calgary often hit high 20's/low 30's (celcius, you do the math) routinely during summer.

Canada's all about hockey:
Not really. While hockey is many a sports fans' main focus throughout winter, during the summer there are lots of other focuses: Lacrosse, golf, soccer & most popular out of all, football. The Canadian Football League is comprised of professional level football teams playing in your classic gridiron field. The only difference is the size of the end zones, the field is 10 yards longer & there are 3 downs instead of 4.

Canada doesn't rock:
This is by far the most annoying myth to me & by far the easiest to bust. Canada freakin' rocks & we know it. Rush, The Guess Who, Backman Turner Overdrive, Saga, Prism, just to name a few Canadian bands. We know rock & we know it well with many famous bands headlining back in the glory days of rock & roll... From the early 60's to the late 90's, we had it made. We are The Spirit Of Radio, buddy.

I'm glad we're here. Modern computer applications, windbreakers you can zip/velcro up, modern highway interchange systems, advanced RC toys & some of the best classic rock ever wouldn't exist without us.
