MARRIAGE EQUALITY IN ALL 50 STATES!!!!! YAY! by LeccathuFurvicael
Holy crap, this morning is the utter best!!! The Supreme Court decided 5-4 that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states! I AM SO HAPPY!!!! I am listening to the C-SPAN coverage, and I am so freaking delighted as they air the activity in front of the courthouse!! The responses from Christians that have been calling on the C-SPAN lines have been somewhat face-palm-y, but they have their right to believe what they wish. Equality and justice are just a little bit more unified today, and it is a day of celebration!!! YES!!!

oO; Really? That's strange - maybe they were citing the number of states that made it legal individually. I'll have to check that out!

It is all 50 states now it seems, but there were prior states that had cases independently on it is my understanding. However, just because you can get married doesn't mean that states have laws requiring anti-discrimination policies. So...people can not get fired simply for getting married <_<

Ugh, I know! Should have been done so many many years ago, but it's scary to think that not even 100 years ago women weren't even allowed to vote, nevermind be considered their own selves in a heteronormative marriage (That was changed in the 70s supposedly).
I can't wait to hear the gnashing of teeth from people not allowed to unfairly discriminate. XP

I think it is technically only 36 now but it was expanded from 24 I believe, at least according to the New York Times.
