Like Something out of a Fictional Novel by Zhag

After much deliberation and after visiting Saskatchewan and obtaining a good job, I'll be roommates with an old friend I met years ago, who grew up in the logging camps of BC from the age of 6, and has learned to be some kind of genius handy dude who has lived off grid before. He offered me a spot in one of the few remaining houses that is still solid and which is being restored within a 'ghost town' (with a few residents still living on the edges of it and such) along with his pack of canines that is matriarchal in hierarchy, along with a derpy male rottweiler which is a very good guard dog. The owner who is renting and selling us the land would like to see the place seeded with more people, really it's begging to be repopulated.

Interestingly enough, the roads still get ploughed in the winter, since the inhabited area expands all around the abandoned houses (has a post office and such). The ghost town part is just ground zero for the surrounding countryside.
It is a fun area to explore with lots of privacy and open space. The rent is dirt cheap of course, which allows me to save my coin to buy land or a place of my own eventually.

I've had urban exploration in my blood from a very young age, driving by these lonely structures on the highway and wanting to take a look inside. When I was living in the city, I was one of the types of crazy to buy 5 pairs of fishing waders, dig up the old storm drain network maps from the public library, and check the forecast, before popping a manhole and hiking deep underground for a few hours during a full moons night with several of my friends. Those were times I will never forget, so it is inevitable I'm going to be living in an abandoned village, listening to nature take over rather than the blaring of horns, or traffic. This is also an opportunity for me in other ways, my friend has already blown my mind with what he knows about electronics, and while installing a new sound system in my vehicle, and hooking up a dashboard fan, I've learned more about electronics in a week, than I have in my entire life.

I've found all kinds of interesting things so far, such as a calendar from 1981 posted on the wall of one of the abandoned restaurants, I imagine the chinese family that lived there stored all their junk in the place, before leaving for greener pastures elsewhere. Finding the creepy doll and wig was a bit unsettling, legend has it they come out to play at night, so surrounding my bed in salt and sleeping with a flame thrower helps me feel safe :-)

I'll keep everybody posted, pretty soon new stuff will be trickling into my gallery again.

That would be cool, and sure the land is flat, but the mountains of clouds and crazy cool weather I've seen so far, driving through Sask, is starting to make up for it! That and trees, I like living in an area that has trees and scrub, not just... grass. So there are some good things going for Sask where I currently am.

There seems to be suicide monkeys driving some vehicles on the single lane highways: really, you just have to pass me, even if I'm going 120, when the speed limit is 100? I swear it's a psychological thing, it doesn't matter how fast I'm going, I could be flooring it and these ass hats can't maintain a steady speed and want to show how long their passing dick is.

Sounds rather interesting. Just stay safe out there; this world isn't what it once was.
