Paper's Done by Threetails

I gave my essay a final once-over today. It'll be turned in tomorrow. I went over the spelling, MLA formatting, and even read it aloud to myself to make sure it scans. I don't think I've put this much care into an essay in many years.

Between now and Friday I have a lot to read for my other class, which I've been neglecting. If I don't get anything else done, I at least have to finish:
Candide
She Stoops To Conquer
The Importance of Being Earnest

And if I have time I need to finish Don Quixote and The Twelfth Night, and possibly give myself a refresher on Waiting For Godot because I've already read it but that was about 13 years ago.

I'm about 20 pages from the end of Candide and it's not sunset yet. Maybe I'll do OK in that class.

My mum recommended Candide recently and I liked it a lot. It's also very short, so I have every confidence in you!

Candide and Earnest are personal favorites of mine. Twelfth Night can be a slog unless you have a grounding in Elizibeathan English. Beautiful stuff but it always leaves me thinking that folks back then were so much more intelligent than me.

Elizabethan is no problem for me because it's so close to our present dialect, and if you imagine it spoken in the original pronunciation (similar to a present-day Somerset or Wiltshire accent) it has a lilt and flow to it that is absolutely magical. I have trouble with Chaucer's English though because even words with modern cognates have shifted so much in pronunciation and spelling since then.
