Thinking about opening commissions.. by HermDemon

I'll be honest, I would only open commissions for the money. However, one of my greatest weaknesses is working with people. I don't bend and adapt well to other people's wants. Over the years, I have lost a great deal of patience and tolerance to deal with others. I can be patient, but I wouldn't push that patience too far.

Also, I only do art that truly inspires me.

Either way, it seems that I am not a very good candidate for commissions due to my previously expressed weaknesses.

Yeah, that would definitely be a problem when opening commissions; art is a really subjective thing, and even the most detailed description is open to different interpretations, so it may not match what the commissioner had in mind... Although I don't know how you would get around the inspiration part of things while doing commissions, but I think that you may be able to get some wiggle room with the "adapting to people's wants" part. :3

Why don't you try doing either "Your-Character-Here" commissionns (Ones where you sketch a pre-determined pose, and the client pays for you to draw them into the picture.) or commissions where you say that its an artistic liberty one where you get to come up with the pose, background, atmosphere of the picture. (Sorry, forgot the name to those)

Just try and think of ways to take some control for yourself in the process. Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion. That may be the best way to go in this case. I appreciate the input.
