Because I love them and need more :u
Any favorite mystery movies or shows? :>
Edit:
For whatever reason it didn't occur to me that people would bring up real-life mysteries, I was just thinking of tv shows and shit (probably because I've been watching too much Hitchcock), but this is also very acceptable!
Jonathan Creek was a pretty awesome mystery series.....

The 1963 film version of Judex is fantastic as well, a really beautiful and unclassifiable fantasy/noir/sci-fi detective story. Based on a 1916 silent film serial of the same name. It's even got a costume ball scene with fursuits (or at the very least, really awesome bird masks).

Most of the PBS Masterpiece Mystery series are generally pretty good. While they reuse characters, they are generally self contained plots for the episode, so you can watch them out of order without missing the resolution of the mystery.
If you've got cable, check your state PBS schedule for what is coming up. depending on where you are you MIGHT get more than one state PBS stations to choose from, with totally different schedules and offerings! If you don't, check the PBS website. right now they only have some historical dramas available for streaming, but they change them out fairly frequently.
Also a good source for non-sensational true crime programming. Independent Lens and Frontline are most likely to produce those, though NOVA also does some forensic type stuff if that's your jam.
Study of mysteries that can't be explained but in a general term for investigation is "Anomalistics" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anomalistics ) There are some mysteries I think are only mysteries due to the work of Investigators, Charlatans and other human agents perpetuating them. An example that springs to mind is Kirlian Photography. So it may be useful to find people associated with mysteries and claims, and look through their personal histories to find new mysteries, Uri Geller has done more than just spoon bending and has been exposed by more people than just James Randi.
For Specific Mysteries, here's some of my favourites.
1. Unidentified Humming Noise
2. Recently explained but still cool Moving Desert Rocks
3. The oldest D&D Manual that no one knows how to read or play
4. Signal Jacking TV case from 1987
5. Mass-effect like object floating near Mars
6. The Other Other Lochness Monster that lives in New Jersery
7. The Wolfsegg Meterite
8. Time Travellers left a sparkplug in the past after a picnic
This last one isn't a mystery, its well-documented and considered one of the wonders of the world, but just look at it:
1. The Terracotta Army
I legit hope that that book is just someone's made up universe, arbitrarily put into code. ALSO. There's a show called Paranormal State I watched a while back where in one episode a bunch of dudes wander in the woods looking for the Jersey Devil. It's particularly hilarious because they INSIST they see it in their footage, but it's clearly just a deer.
Idk if you've read much about it (although you read everything, so I wouldn't be surprised if you secretly have encyclopedic knowledge of it), but evidently there's been a connection between ghost activity/sightings around 19Hz sounds, juuuust out of reasonable audible range for humans, and that the particular frequency causes hallucinations or similar effects. :v
Sound can have a lot of disconcerting effect. Not really surprized, but hey I read everything. There was an "experiment" done that used sound to give people 'out of body' experiences, some people felt closer to god, others had weirder revelations. A Neurologist went through it after it had gained some press and explained how it was fucking up the limbic system to give these perceptual anomalies. Mother Nature is one kooky bitch that loves screwing with her children.
I keep wanting to link it to the brain making up shit about things it doesn't understand. Because brains are wonderful and I love how much nonsense they throw at us to pretend they know what's happening. Anywho, I figured it was something you'd be interested in, at least. I'll have to see if I can find anything about that "experiment".
All I know is that it was a Steven Novella blog post that linked to the video of the actual neurologist that went through it as part of a twenty minute-esque documentary expose' of why the people using the machine was a crock of shit. Your brain is lying to you. Unfortunately, Novella being the chairman or having an official post with the Skeptics Society of England, writes prolifically about all manners of paranormal anomalies, so even after going through five pages I couldn't find the exact thing. There is no experiment. If I find it I'll send it to you, till then have you ever tried EnterVoid? I've been thinking of pushing myself to actually go ahead with it. Zinn knows tell them nothing. Also whats happened to Miep & co?
I haven't messed with EnterVoid yet. It's sitting in my bookmarks, just waiting for me to join when I have the time. You should do it though o3o
Miep and Mila haven't totally disappeared, just lots of other stuff I'm busy with ini
I would like to eventually make a little comic series about them, maybe a webcomic, most likely super slice-of-life kind of stuff, and every once in a while I get a chance to do some concept work related to them (Mila's become a witch. A carpenter witch.) But first I have a dozen other projects to whittle my way through~
Also, I think Miep is the butt end of a ridiculous amount of jokes my friends and I make for some reason. She's apparently really easy to make silly events revolve around.
