Time for a change by Darkness Falls

So, I'm changing my fursona! I've been a wolf for a very long time - since 1999, before I became a furry, as I got into the fandom via the therian community. I'm a wolf in a way that I can't be other things; it's an aspect of myself that I can't change and wouldn't ever want to. On the other hand, just because I'll always be a wolf at heart, doesn't mean that I can't be other things as well!

It's something that I've felt for a couple of months now; I had a string of dreams about dragons, and for a while I was (and still am) considering a dragon alt-fursona. And then when I got to America a few weeks ago, something changed and I felt... different. I've had Skye, my skunk/hyena character, since the end of 2006, and both he and Edana (my fennec/coyote girl) were designed to be a kind of... extrapolation of different parts of myself, to be able to explore ideas in a way that I didn't feel safe or comfortable with at the time. Hyenas have (or at least, are associated in my mind with) that 'don't give a fuck' lack of worry, that underlying confidence and self-assurance; and skunks are cute and soft and associated with sensuality (think Pepe Le Pew but less sexual-harassment-ey), and they have big fluffy tails (which I've always liked the idea of, having a massive cuddly tail - it's something that's carried through into a couple of my characters). Maybe it's a sign of progress, then, that I feel more comfortable with myself, that I'm looking at incorporating these parts back into myself.

As a consequence, I'm becoming a hyenaskunk! Or a wolf/hyena/skunk; I'm keeping my wolf form - one of the defining features of werewolves is that they shapeshift into wolf-monster forms, after all - and my feral form will stay full-wolf, but my 'general use' 'sona is evolving. New artwork will follow soon!

So! Skunkyena hugs, anyone? :)

Should I ask about the dragony dreams? Do you tend to record your dreams well? OvO

I don't write all of them down, but I do remember a lot of them! They started a couple of months ago; a vague plotline about my being a kid going to stay with this dragon family, or perhaps on some sort of exchange with them, or something. Over the following few weeks, I kept getting little snippets of returning to them, learning more about them piece by piece. They're all various pastel shades; their names are Djell (the father), Mnardha (the mother), and, in descending order of age, Seial, Iatu, Ywriesa and Em. They have a large feral drake that seems to fill the role of dog, or family pet; its name is Eyzo. I've had little flashes of scenes with them; mostly just impressions, though. I'd like to do more with them and spend more time with them, but we'll see how things develop; I haven't had any dreams involving them since going to America a couple of weeks ago.

    HMM! I demand reference.

Alternatively, if you NEED reference, I can switch the character sheet I started a while back, no issue. :>

Pictures are coming! I'm working on a sequence; I'll post them up when they're done!
