The people from One Fantastic Week keep singing the praises of mailing lists. Basically their argument is, when you're at a convention and you give someone a business card, that's great, now they have your contact info. But how do you know that business card is going to make it home with them? How do you know it will even make it back to their hotel room? And then assuming they DO get it home, how do you know they'll go through all their business cards and remember to follow you?
The short answer is, you don't. And it's not necessarily anyone's fault. Cards are small and get lost. They get destroyed or left behind in hotel rooms, or forgotten in pockets and run through the wash. Maybe those people aren't on any of the sites listed on your business card and forget to check them without an alert notification.
However, the people discussing this have much, much larger businesses and much, much, MUCH larger fanbases than I do XD
So basically my question is, do you think a mailing list would be beneficial? Would you like to sign up for one for your favorite artists?

I'm on a couple artists' mailing lists (FoxAmoore and Tanidareal I think), but to be honest I never actually read any of them. If they included more about the artists' lives and such, rather than just art and music and convention updates, I might be more likely to read them.
