Refugee Incoming! by Aerak

Well, here I am! Coming here was no swift decision. My mate, Alkora, created FurAffinity and I was one of it's first admins. I remember when we began it was like the wild west. Well, many years ago it was sold to Dragoneer and now recently as everyone knows it was sold to IMVU. After reading their TOS from imvu.com it has set off too many red flags for me. I wish Dragoneer and the rest of the staff there all the luck in the universe, but it is time for me to move on.

I will still have a presence on FA, but this is now my new home. I have been watching this place grow and have taken a quiet interest in it and I am quite happy with the staff's conduct and the choices that have been made. I have high hopes for this place.

I heard enough rumors during the whole IMVU announcement. I decided to take the time and do the research on my own. There are two factors which forced this decision. The first was history - a history of people on IMVU posting and selling copywritten material, with little concern being shown by the website. The second red flag was today when I spent about an hour going through IMVU.com's TOS. I'm the Vice President of an eCommerce business that employs eight people - I have scene my share of "cover our ass" TOS boiler plate but there are several sections of IMVU's that are a bit excessive. When you combine the history of copyright infringement that some of their users are committing with the fact that some of it has been up there for years, malicious intent or not on the part of IMVU, I don't want to risk being a part of it.

TLDR: I like Weasyl. It's UI isn't stuck 10 years in the past. XD

Yeah, this website is more organized. Plus it's easier to put your commission info on your profile
