Progress rhymes with... a lot of words by Exindiv

I don't really expect much response to this but I would like some input.
Well, generally I'd like more input, but I'll try to narrow the focus for the moment:
1) Do you see any improvement in my work? If so, where?
2) What do you think of the new digital work? Improvement? Not so much? Lateral move?
3) Red or white wine with fish?
4) Suggestions for #4?
5) General comments are generally encouraged.
Anywho! Your words are appreciated.

:D You are just... too much!

I think I've expressed most of what I have to say. :3 The jump from traditional to digital has seen some improvements, while also exposing things that aren't apparent in the traditional medium. You need some more confident linework, and your digital art exposes that.

    That is my opinion :3

I'm going to disagree with you as to linework. I think what you're seeing with the digital pieces is not so much a lack of confident line work as it is experimentation with new media and the limitations of the tools I've been using, which includes a complete lack of linework (confident or otherwise). Adobe Sketchbook, the program I've been using, is more like a painting simulator than anything else and doesn't really have good tools (at least that I can find) for good linework: specifically, it doesn't have good inking tools, which is one of my primary means of doing linework. So, in this program I've had to basically experiment with digital painting without having my inking skills to fall back on, as I have very little experience painting traditionally much less digitally. So, the recent work exposes my weaknesses in two areas: color and painting.
Programs like Sai and Manga Studio both have excellent inking tools. However, I don't have a copy of Sai I can use and Manga Studio's save files are not terribly compatible with Sketchbook (specifically - you lose your layers in certain file formats) - which means it's not easy to import and export the files so I can use both programs with the same file. I am continuing to experiment, but I'm also thinking of doing some more traditional sketch and ink work that I can scan and color. (Think of it as a musician that has worked solely with stringed instruments being given a stack of sheet music and a tuba - he can read the music and can work it out in theory, but it's going to take more than a few toots to get a hang of that tuba.)
I could also go on at length about prevailing styles and techniques at length and whether or not I'm trying to emulate something or go in my own direction - but that generally serves no other point than to sooth a bruised ego. What you're really seeing in a lot of my digital stuff is a lack of polish - for which the prescription is generally just practice mixed with trial and error. But yeah, I've been spending time reading tutorials, reviewing my work, contemplating comments like yours, and eating tacos - things will continue.

I should clarify when I say "confident lines," I don't mean your confidence in the lines, I mean that your lines don't stand out, as if they're shy. they aren't bold enough, as if they're unsure. but yeah, I didn't see your comments on your software limitations until after I posted to this journal.

I think PDFs usually preserve layers. try saving in PDF format. other formats that sometimes preserve layers are PSD (obviously) and PNG. If your programs can't save in at least two of those three formats, I'd think there's something wrong. However, I use photoshop, so I'm not sure how the rest of the world works :P
