I'm finally taking the plunge and making a couple pieces for the local convention BLFC this coming May. I'll be sticking with the theme of "Utopia/Dystopia" and I've already got really solid ideas that I can start sketching out now, but I'm in a quandary for one of them that will be entitled "Pyramid Scheme:" What species should I make the subject? He's going to be a corporate suit and is going to incorporate imagery that heavily hints at corrupt "secret police/Big Brother" undertones. But I cannot decide on a species to make him; I'd like a balance between something genuinely interesting for me to draw while it still being the kind that will be appealing to potential furry buyers. I was leaning heavily towards either jackal, domestic canine or (my personal favorite) hyena. I'd also dig doing a vulture but I'm not sure that would sell...
So hurl your ill-concieved or well-educated ideas for a species at me! Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated, since even though I will not have a table, this will be the first time I will ever be showcasing my art somewhere publicly, let alone even selling it.
SO MANY NEAT NORTH AFRICAN BIRB TO CHOOSE.
IBIS (OF MANY), EGYPTIAN VULTURE, OTHER VULTURE, LAMMERGEIER....aaahm....
I'd do an entire series like this with nothing but birds, no fooling. If I don't end up simply doing a vulture of some kind of species, I'm thinking I'll be doing some kind of cyberpunk/Art Deco Egyptian-inspired art series that will be entirely separate to this, and then there will be all of the birds. I'm really digging on that Ibis idea especially...

I love a vulture, but I'm a bad judge of saleability. An owl could work on an avian theme (think Secret of NYMH). Or you could give it an Egyptian flair and appeal to the scalies with a big scary crocodile.
