So lately I've gotten the bug to cook, something I admit I don't do often. I've long been the house baker, I do the cookies and cakes and such, but food has often not been something I've ever done.
Honestly, I just got excited to do it, and started with chinese fried quinoa. The next day I made salmon with mushrooms and spinach, and the third day I made bulgogi.
I've got plans to make shrimp scampi, and now I want to make a tortilla soup.
Who knew cooking was this fun? :)
Dad's philosophy was, "Once the kid's tall enough to see the top of the stove, it's time to learn to cook." Mom was a first rate cook (how many Welsh / Scots-Irish / Cherokees cook great Italian?) and Dad could turn random leftovers or pantry pickin's into one of his delicious "messes." I started cooking at eight and almost fifty years later, I do most of the cooking in the house. I enjoy the challenge of coming up with my own recipes to reproduce something, and do that a lot. So hey, enjoy playin' in the kitchen!

I grew up in Ohio with southern American cooking traditions. I've been cooking since I was 8. Cooking is a lot of fun.
