3 - Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
4 - Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?

1 - I'm not very good about commenting, but I usually comment if I feel comfortable around the artists and there's something I really like about the piece and feel deserves commenting. Also if the artists mentions wanting feedback I'm much more likely to comment.
2 - If lots of people have already said something, then I'm very discouraged, especially if the artists hasn't replied much.
3 - As mentioned before, yes. It's definitely intimidating and it adds to the feeling of, my comment won't be noticed, isn't worth it.
4 - Definitely! It makes it feel like the comments are actually worth it. At the same time, I know they can't spend a lot of time replying to everything.
5 - You are slightly intimidating, but so far friendly. I get intimidated by most people I follow though, so that might just be me.
6 - Um, I only just started following you, but seem professional I guess?

      Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it! :}

Hah, as someone who can be timid around other people, the idea of being intimidating to others sorta puts things into perspective as a reason not to worry as much as I do about it! And yeah, I try to find the line between friendly and professional, since I do do this as a career, but I don't want to seem stand-offish and unapproachable, either... it can be hard to find the proper balance there.

        No problem. :)

Definitely. X3 It's definitely a tough line to way, but I think you do pretty well being both professional and friendly.

Well, thank you! Glad to know I'm doing well with it thus far, haha.

1 - What motivates you to comment on a submission?
Ahh usually if the submission gives me a feeling, like if I think it's really cute, thought-provoking or just so stunning I want to say it "out loud".

2 - What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
If the artist belittles themselves in the description or if there's already many comments (like 20).

3 - Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    Yes

4 - Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
Maybe, but if it's just the same "thank you" all the time, it doesn't seem like anything.

5 - Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
Noo I don't find You particularly intimidating, it's just that it's always a little push to say something to a stranger. I don't think leaving nice comments is that bad though!

6 - What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
Hmmm I haven't paid enough attention to say anything for sure. At least you seem curious or concerned of what other people think about you oorr you might take your art as business, since you're doing a questionaire. Or it might just be for fun, I don't know!

7 - Any suggestions you want to give?
    Keep it up o7

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Yeah, I agree about the artists belittling themselves in their description... there is no easy way to deal with that. Though there is a big difference between 'I'm not happy with such-and-such aspect of this yet' and 'I suck this is awful', for sure.

And yeah, I do treat my art as a business, so this is all helpful to me to know what makes people feel comfortable being involved and stuff :)

1 - What motivates you to comment on a submission?

    • If I know the person is chill and the art is great! And of course when I've got the time. 2 - What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
    • This obviously doesn't apply to you, but sometimes when the description is off-putting or the artist is drama-prone. OR of course if I don't feel like I have anything helpful to say. 3 - Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    • Occasionally, but a lot of it depends on the quality of the comments. 4 - Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
    • Maybe a little but I never really expect replies since usually I don't receive them, and that's okay. :> 5 - Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
    • Nope! I've seen you around for ages and Sary likes you! Definitely know you're nice. 6 - What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
    • Very professional and motivated. It makes my head spin how your work has improved in leaps and bounds over the years. 7 - Any suggestions you want to give?
    • Eat a little chocolate piece, it's always good to have a treat!

Whoa, I didn't notice that the comment got automatically organized like that. D: Hope that's not too hard to read. I'll have to remember that.

No worries, I figured it out :)

Thanks for the insight and the kind words! I really appreciate it <3 Your work has improved a lot too, I've always liked seeing what you make. Oh, and idk what your policy is, but let me know if you'd ever like to do an art trade of some sort?

You know, I should really just put the Sary endorsement as my sub-title on my business card, that'll be all anyone needs I think.

Oh man, I'd LOVE to do a trade with you sometime!! As Valentines Day approaches I'm gonna be swamped at work, but if you didn't mind the slight slowness on my part the week of it. :D

          • Link

No problem, I might be a little slow in the coming months too! But the speed isn't a big deal to me :) I'll message you in a few days about it!

1.What motivates you to comment on a submission?
It's emic in that I know my response will be appreciated by the artist.

2.What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
When the artist is an asshole...or if maybe my mind is just blank on that particular day. I try to leave comments on most art I have in my watch if it catches my attention, so artists can know they artwork was enjoyed. I hope the same from other artists.

3.Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
No, but I am more likely to leave comments on art that doesn't have any, I hate to think it was overlooked when it deserves attention.

4.Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
    Yes.

5.Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
Not at all - I like how friendly you are.

6.What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
Based on your replies to journals and what-not, you seem to be sensitive to others and kind.

7.Any suggestions you want to give?
    Not really :)

Same about wanting to comment more on stuff without comments! And if stuff has several comments and none are replied to, I might not comment because I'm not sure the artist uses the website any more or not...

Thanks for the response Cooley, I appreciate it! C:
