Tag edits and my issue with them. by ClearKat

The biggest thing I don't like about weasyl right now is the fact that if you wish to edit someone's tags to include things on your black list it notifies the person who posted it that you edited their submission tags rather than keep it anonymous.

It's just I would love to be able to edit submission tags but I'm too afraid that someone will yell at me for doing it. Since they can come to your page and what not rather than not know.

It's like "I'm sorry I don't want to see your hyper boob and hyper multicock herm sona" :/

It's a bit scary, but I'm sure if you're not tagging things like "gross" and "wtf" the poster might appreciate it? Like, they probably want people who are into their art to find it more easily, and you benefit by having it on your blacklist. Being totally objective about it, it's mutually good, and, also, I'm pretty lazy and don't always tag everything I could tag, and I think other people are probably in the same boat. =o=

On the courage side, if they come on to your page being a dick, you can always report them or block them.

Yeah your right. Thanks I might start doing it that way. Haha ^^

If I remember correctly, the notifications were put in so that there would be a way for people to better catch and report tag abuse, if and when it happens. It can be a bit nerve-wracking to add tags onto someone else's submission, especially when you're not sure what they would think of you adding on certain tags, but honestly, it helps everyone on the site to contribute to the tag pool and make art easier to sort and find! At least, that's how I think of it. And it's like Hareteeth said, being objective about it is really not going to hurt anyone. For as long as I've been doing it (and I do it with a LOT of submissions nowadays while I'm browsing around), I haven't been bothered or yelled at yet, so I don't think you'll have to worry too much!

I understand, just to me I think it should be done somewhat anon still like have an option in your account settings or somethin. Like it throws up a notification your tags have been edited but doesn't show the persons username?

I guess my fear stems from seeing most of my friends yelled at for editing someone's tags with the needed stuff. It wasn't stupid stuff like "dis Suks" either.

But moo I will probably do a couple the next time I'm browsing and hyper stuff in tagged pops up.
