How many times has FurAffinity lied to you? by Calypso_Koalasaur

Craveu https://www.weasyl.com/~craveu has thankfully done the math so you don't have to. A staggering 74 promises, from Fender's journals alone, have been broken, unfinished, or just flat out ignored. This isn't even counting anything any of the admins have said on their own account. Is that because they tell the truth? Absolutely not. Just not done counting the lies yet.

This is another helpful post brought to you by #FATransparency, making FA transparent so FA doesn't have to.

I so so so wish I didn't have to go back, but after I lsot my summer course job I litterally had to choice since all my commission base is there :I

D: I'm sorry to hear that...

It's a shame though, I keep seeing comments like yours everywhere. If only there was some way to incentivise your followers to check you out here instead. I would have suggested offering a tiny discount to people who commission you here (and making people on FA aware of this as well), but it's probably not the best thing to do in your financial condition.

I could do it, but it'd seem a bit unfair honestly. I did try to get people to come follow me here but promoting new pieces here with only previews on FA, but people were getting mad saying i was spamming when I wasnt? and that they didnt feel like transfering sites for one artist

        • Link

Those people were crappy customers anyway. Seriously, look at how many regular commissioners you have, and compare that group to the people who got mad at you. I suspect you'll find little overlap.

You think that's bad, you should see the journals before this one.

Dragoneer will surely set the record straight.

      Soon.

      Eventually.

considering they've been saying theyll update and change the site for the better since they made it? I doubt it

    • Link

And I understand your problem as well. Someone with your talents shouldn't have a problem bringing their followers here though. I'm sure they'll take a second to switch to see your art if they're truly a fan of yours. I don't like seeing people's (not you) number one response to this always being "nobody is there," without realizing the only way to change that is to move.

      • Link

aahhh you are too sweet uggguuu i cant deal with all these talent compliments youve given mee -hides away in corner-

I did get some people to come over, but not enough to sustain regular commissions here, I still have a hard enough time getting commissions on FA despite how many followers I have

Actually, Weasyl has a neat feature! They have two Twitter accounts that send out your work as tweets automatically if you tag them for critique. (One is safe and one is NSFW.) They even hash tag the tags you use. All automatically! It might nit be a huge boost but it really helps get your name out to strangers in a different way.

ohh that would be helpful, also a bit slow at tfirst at the same time since I only have 18 followers on twitter XD

  • Link

Wow. Reading that list was like one really long running gag.

  • Link

I'm pretty sure they'll update the site around the time Half Life 3 releases.
The update will be a new banner.

    • Link

I remember awhile back when they changed the dropdown menus to the top right instead of under the banner. They were making a big deal saying there was going to be so much improvement and they were updating the site and it was down for like, 2 or 3 days, and when it was back up all that changed was the menu was over on the right now. I was just like 'what??'

The site changed like, 2% since it was created back in 2005 or whatever its so dumb. Their auto response to WANTING updates is 'we;re working on it' and its so damn tiring now blah

TL;DR I will not be surprisd if any new 'big update' is the result of just a new damn banner

      • Link

Hell, at this rate, I'm amazed they ever even change the banners at all. x.x; Too busy buying porn with donation money and making yet another furry convention because... reasons. xD

I used to really love the place, but ... I just don't know. I'm really, really glad I left now. Even if a tiny percentage of my watchers followed, it's just not worth it to stay in such a toxic environment. @~@ I hope you can make the move successfully too! I saw up above you're kind of stuck there. :<

        • Link

Well I did but I had to go back :c I had a job over the summer so didnt need to do commissions that often. But since I lost it and I dont make enough here, I had to go back to FA. Even then though I'm having trouble getting back into the 'regular' flow there since I was gone for half a year

          • Link

Ouch. x.x; That sucks... I really hope more people start coming over here, so you can move, and not have to deal with that crap! Sooo many people are stubborn and refuse to leave that broken junkpile of a site. Worse yet are the ones who guilt people into moving back over there, or harass people until they do... Bleh. The whole thing just makes me sad.

Does it take over 4 years to make a folder option? Hmm.

    • Link

Eh, it can if you lack skill and you have a massive database to maintain on a shoestring budget.

Sounds like they need a coding team, hmm? Perhaps one with experience?

That'd be expensive though, and there's just no money - apparently. xD

      • Link

They could perhaps use the community who have been asking to help since forever, and not you know, people like Zaush who say they're busy all the damn time and be done with it.

        • Link

It's all about having the right friends.

  • Link

I rag on myself all the time for saying I'm gonna do shit and then not doing shit but at least I'm not FA

  • Link

This is going to sound painfully naive but ... ... What's the motivation for even starting Fa in the first place?
What I'm driving at is; if you have a website, but never fix it, yet bitch about "mean people" and refuse to let anyone else fix it ???? ... I don't get it.

    • Link

Some people have horrible lives and need to validate themselves through feeling important to others.

      • Link

Yeah ... yeah. That's pretty much what I come up with too.
It's too bad, too, because their attitudes have been frustrating the community at large in subtle ways for years. Perhaps it's just my personal bias but it feels like the site is riddled with apathy, right down to "I don't want to make a new account elsewhere because um ....... ... remembering things is hard."
