Novel Commissions? by Threetails

So I'm willing to offer something I've never done before: I'm willing to take commissions for entire novels.

The novels would be short, about 50K words or thereabouts. Asking price will be $1000. I will not charge extra if I go over 50K words but I will not offer longer stories.

However, because I've had some bad experiences with taking story commissions of any kind in the past, there are some simple but important terms for these commissions:

  1. First of all, you must agree to allow me to publish my work and that I retain all rights to the work I create. You will be acknowledged in the credits but should not expect any royalties from the sales of the printed work.

  2. If you have an elaborate backstory or an extremely specific story in mind (e.g. 20+ pages of confusing world-building notes) I might have trouble producing a quality work. Keep your character's backstory to about 5 pages and allow me some creative leeway in constructing a world and a story to feature your character.

  3. Payment would be due up front and there will be only one commission slot at a time.

  4. Turnaround time will vary greatly depending on conditions, but in the recent past a 50-70K word novel has taken me between 27 days and 4 months to complete when I can work on it consistently. These will probably go relatively fast because I need money for surgery.

  5. If you are interested, note me with:
    *Your character's name
    *A descrition or physical description
*about 1-5 pages of information about your character
*the type of story you want (I specialize in sci-fi, fantasy, and romance)
*the type of setting you want (I specialize in dieselpunk, space opera, contemporary, and medieval).
From there we will discuss and finalize the terms of the commission.

And for my friends, spread the word!

Damn, that's a good idea. Best of luck and I hope the surgery goes well!

Sadly I don't anticipate much response. Probably going to have to sell some things instead.
