Back to Windows by Lacus

So I was having some trouble with Linux Mint 14, thus I updated to Linux Mint 17 Qiana.

I recently got my Steam information back, so that's up and running. Most of my games were running fine through WINE without a hitch...until recently.

You see, my wonderful bf bought me the Legendary package of Skyrim. I was terribly excited and thankful for this gift.

However, upon firing it up...Skyrim was choppy, had no audio, and would crash instantly upon trying to quit to the desktop.

My bf and I tried many fixes for these issues, to no avail. On many forums, even advanced users commented towards users seeking troubleshooting that WINE was often a "crapshoot" and there were cases where no fix would really work.

After deliberating upon it, we switched my computer to Windows 7 with a copy he had laying around and had not used, since he already had a copy on his PC.

I debated dual booting, but that seemed unnecessary for a couple reasons:

  • I would hardly boot to the Linux OS because I've been needing Windows for a variety of reasons, I want to stream at some point among them.
  • My bf and I are going to build a computer which we will be installing a command line interface Linux on in order to tinker with, so I'll have plenty of opportunity to learn about hardware and the OS with that.

So with that, I am still using mostly open source software such as Libre Office, GIMP, and Inkscape, but this PC is now much more user friendly and compatible with my uses.
