i, personally, really enjoy popular sections, especially when it's just a strip of art. sheezyart used to have that, and it was really fun to see if i happened to get to the popular page, or if a friend gets it. it also helps me find more awesome artists to watch.

and for those who don't like the popular section, it's easy enough to ignore.
