One of my roommates offered to take me to see it tonight, to attempt to get my mind off of recent events.

Before I go into my thoughts on it, I wanna say this. In my experience, whenever a movie is over-hyped, I tend not to even want to see them. Most times when I do see a movie that has been over-hyped, I end up disliking them. This comes from me having minimal interest in 'action' films.

With everything that happened in the movie, and the death and destruction in it, this move was one I'm glad I didn't have to pay to see. I feel I should have stuck with my gut and turned town my roommate's invitation. Honestly, at the start of the move, I HATED Rocket. He was far too arrogant for my tastes. There were very few scenes with Rocket in them, during the first half of the movie, where I actually found him enjoyable to watch. It wasn't until about half way through the movie that I warmed up to him a bit.

And another thing I was disappointed in was the fact that, once the main plot point was revealed, absolutely NOTHING that remained in the movie was any surprise to me. Most of the movie was predictable, and when a movie becomes predictable, my interest in it fades fast.

Now, that's not to say it didn't have some good points, but, in my opinion, it's a sad thing to note that one of my favorite characters in the entire movie was the one who said the least: Groot. I liked Rocket after about half the movie, yes, but something about Groot made me chuckle, even when he was fighting.

Sorry, Rocket fans, but overall, I give this movie about a 5 out of 10.
