Hiatus over by Menagerie

Hello Weasyl, I'm back. I hope everyone had a good/productive summer. It looks like there are a few changes around here so I'll have to poke around later to see what's new.

As I had hoped while I was gone I was able to get some significant practice with my problem areas. Mostly with anatomy glitches that I keep having, but color still gives me trouble. Some of the simpler stuff should appear in my scraps this week. I played a lot with SAI settings and techniques and I discovered a lot of things that don't work, but managed to move my brushes into a more organized area and get a few settings redone to something I like better. Since coloring gave me some headaches and a lot of what I want to post I want to do in color there won't be a dump coming, but hopefully a steady flow of stuff over the next month or two. I'm probably going to end up doing a lot of smooth cell shading (I think that's what people call it) for a while until I can figure out how to get colors to play nice together. It feels like such a juggling act.

On that note, and god I missed my big monitor, I've noticed a significant difference between the way color is displayed on my laptop and on my other monitors. Anybody know if there any way to standardize those or match them to an absolute set of settings, or do I just have to hope that everyone's monitors are close enough to mine so the colors don't look too wonky?

I know a lot more of what each of the settings in SAI do, and started working with Photoshop settings to see if I can get some similar brushes there. I can't seem to get that crispy pencil line that I like using for sketching in Photoshop. And since some day SAI isn't going to work anymore and I want to be able to transition into the next program easier than I did from OC to SAI.

I took another stab at animation, and got some progress there. But I've still got some questions and I'll probably make a second journal post about that later.

I hope to be able to catch up with everyone over the next couple of weeks. See you around. :)
