Guardians of the Galaxy cameo by wakeangel2001

Edit: I found out that the space dog was not Laika, but actually Cosmo, another really obscure Marvel character (obviously based on Laika in that he was a dog launched into space by the Russians, except this guy fell into a worm hole and got exposed to cosmic radiation that made him intelligent and telepathic and stuff.) That's cool though, I'm not going to change the rest of the text because I don't want to be accused of not admitting to my mistakes.

So, there was a pretty significant cameo in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie that I'm sure everyone's been talking about, something I never expected to see just sitting around in the Collector's room. That's right, Laika the astronaut (or rather cosmonaut since she was Russian) dog! Yeah really, Laika was the first living being ever launched into space, and somehow she ended up in a display case of the immortal Collector's. The real Laika died from heat stroke after only a few hours (though the Russians initially said she lived for significantly longer, you know how propaganda was in the 50's.) But I would really love to know how this guy managed to get his hands on her. You know, Laika also cameoed in an early episode of Space Dandy now that I think of it, people love that dog don't they?

Alright so really, Howard the Duck...the entire audience burst out laughing as soon as we saw him so I didn't get to hear his line (It was "You let her lick your face?" I'm told) but how WEIRD is it that he's canon in the Marvel cinematic universe now? Of course there WAS a Howard the Duck movie, and you know what? It was the FIRST movie I ever saw in a theater, when I was less than a year old! My mom says that I visibly enjoyed the movie, laughing and following along with it despite barely being ambulatory (I must have been around 8 months old at the time, I'm told I spoke my first word at only 3 months but this is still pretty far from being a toddler.) Of course, being a baby in a movie theater who didn't cry or fall asleep makes me fairly certain that I do not in fact actually exist, either that or it is possible that you can be a cinephile almost from birth.
