Hey guys? Legit question about my commissions. by Kompy

UPDATE: Did it anyway, sorry.

Not that I get that many here in Weazyl anyway, but...

Do you guys think I charge too little?

Do you think I would bum out too many people if I were to raise my prices? Yes, this would include future Palette Challenge commission pics over in FA, though no one who has already paid for those/are waiting already would be affected.

Why the need for the raised prices? Simple: Until I can get an actual job that can help support me and my mom, this is the only way I can help out financially. We're not super-poor and we have no super-immediate worries to deal with*, but money is tight since mom is currently the only real breadwinner right now and I'm...well, not QUITE a freeloader, but I'd like to be able to help more if I can.

Also, I'll be honest, I want to be able to draw more personal, original artwork again. Right now my brain freezes up every time I do because I always fear that art that I am doing that is unrelated to commissions is time that I am wasting. It is a very dumb, depressing thought, I know. But that's where I am right now mentally.

On the plus side, if I up the prices, I could also throw in some additional commission offers, like digital badges, icons and sending psd. files for printing purposes.

So what say you, folks?

*aside from the need of a new computer and MAYBE tablet, but until I know if I can get something like that as a graduation gift or not, I don't want to open up for emergency commissions for that yet.

Hey guys? Legit question about my commissions.

    yes much too little

though I know you feel you have to charge a small amount because your not a well known artist. If you take a commission and the time you put into it turns out to make you less than minimum wage, its an insult to you and your art and gets into the area where you get a negative profit from cost of your time and the art materials you use. And at that point, you come to the point where if your going to work yourself into a debt, you might as well do it working for yourself and not some stranger.
