Life update! Ask me things? by Ziblie

Time to update the ol' journal again!

Things are pretty exciting in Ziblie-Land. I'm signing a lease on Friday for the place I'll be moving to with Lisky in August! I love the place we got and I'm super excited to be making it official :D

Also slowly getting my art mojo back which is nice. I think the summer heat drained it out of me. ; ^ ; But streaming today was great fun and really helped.

So anyway! I'm in a mood to chatter. If anybody has questions, art-wise or me-wise, feel free to ask and I will answer!

    WHY ARE YOU SO AWESOME???

    yes, that is my question

    • Link

But I don't know how to answer that! D:

Are your cooking appliances designed by Lisky? Because that would explain a lot!

    • Link

Hey I'm usually pretty good at cooking! I just don't get along very well with cheese D:

      • Link

Oh...I thought your goofy web comic thing was an accurate depiction of you in the kitchen. XP

I was barely there in that stream. What did I miss besides Stoker being a weirdo?

    • Link

That's mostly it really, haha. And Lex Luthor stealing cakes. I got a lot done though! It was nice!

What your favorite animal? What do you think is the hard part to draw on them (like expressions on animals, legs, paws, etc...)?

    • Link

My favorite animals are rodents! And stingrays. But mostly rodents. Probably rats honestly, but I love beavers and capybaras too. <33

Honestly and seriously, the hardest thing for me is wings. Some people can make them wonderfully expressive, but I find them really hard to wrap my head around, and I always forget about them when I'm working out a pose, only to have to try and find a way to add them in later.

      • Link

Oh, cool! Capybaras are cute, I see some, sometimes, in my city in Brazil. Veeeery big too!

I though that you would say that. I always see artist saying that wings are hard, they even charge more for it (it must be really hard, ahaha). I find wings beautiful, yes, but it's kind of funny, because even if they are more transparent, like some dragons, it will cover most of a background scene if they are open, right? Haha.

        • Link

          I am trying very hard not to squee all over you about capybaras. I think it's awesome you see them in person. ;A;

I have been trying to think of wings as just big hands and manipulating their poses that way, but frankly, I need practice, haha. I should probably do some exploratory sketch sheets, sometime.

What are your thoughts on the mars colony project?

    • Link

I know almost nothing about it! But it's a very interesting concept. I think it would be cool if we could colonize new planets, especially ones that don't have indigenous populations we'd be putting out by doing it.

I'm sure there would be a ton of interesting cultural ramifications that would come from that, too. I wonder how Martian colonists would be treated by people still on Earth. I wonder whether it would be the kind of place we'd send our best and brightest, or if it would be like Australia, a place where we send the people we don't want to deal with. (I assume in either case there'd have to be a lot of scientific development first, of course....)

I wonder what the politics of it would be. Obviously we're nowhere near having a global government, so would we be entering a neo-Colonialist period with different countries staking their claims on different parts of Mars? Would there be wars on Mars over territory and resources? Would those wars be fought on Earth?

I suppose in the absence of significant terraforming technology/processes though, a Martian colony would be much like the International Space Station, or Antarctica. Mostly scientists, very lonely, and not somewhere you'd live your whole life.

There is actually currently a project in the works now to such an ends being done in the private sector. They received over 200,000 volunteers. The plan is to send an automated crew to set up the colony in 2018 to be followed by a crew of four scientists in 2024 who will then be followed by groups of four every two or four years. They will be permanent residents on mars and will be encouraged to live normal lives and expand the colony both in infrastructure and in populace.

The UN has also adopted several laws regarding interstellar claims stating all interstellar bodies are to be claimed in the name of humanity as a whole and no individual country may stake claim independently. I find it exciting.

        • Link

That's definitely very exciting! Who would have thought planetary colonization would happen in our lifetime?

          • Link

I know right! It will lead to so much more and it is certainly more appealing than that dim witted attempt to con people into making porn in space a while back.
