i'm sorry for not being terribly consistent here on weasyl, but i'm trying my best.
it doesnt help that my tablet finally kicked the bucket yesterday, so i'm waiting for my new one to ship out to me by next week at the latest.
now i've got a tiny following here, and truthfully i've no idea if i'm going to garner any attention by asking for some advice.
the rest of this is copypasted from my FA journal, just so you know:
what do i do to generate a steady flow of commissions?
i'm still without a job to benefit me and i still have a monthly bill to pay off to help out in the house. the hunt isn't very successful
it isn't much, but i'll be draining my savings in a short amount of time if my job hunt isn't fruitful.
I have to pay off $240.00 monthly, before the 15th of each month.
My commissions currently run at $10 a picture, due to the special i've been having, but I want to keep it at $15 as reflected in my price sheet.
Of course there is the overflow of people offering their condolences and that they wish they could commission me. I can't pay bills with that!
I really want to boost myself as a name, so what'll it take to get more people who like what I do?
-I've lifted my re-posting art clause from long, long ago. But I still don't see the hype as advertised.
-I do not want to constantly offer free art, as I get burned out on the requests quite quickly and I don't even get a thank you for doing it.
Could you guys offer me some solid advice?
I used to do streams every so often, but my motivation was shot by a lack of an audience. Even with freebies being offered, haha.
:< Well, the sad unfortunate truth about watchers/followers... is that less than 10% will typically comment or participate in anything.

Hmmm... the only real advice I can give you that I have seen other artists give is: don't stop doing/posting art. If you don't have any commissions waiting, draw some personal stuff and post that with a general message along the lines of "Want something like this? I am open for commissions!"
The biggest part of getting attention is being consistent, so if you consistently post and consistently work, you are more likely to draw followers and show them that you work quickly and such.
Also, you could try doing some sketch streams? I don't know if they are within your abilities to do, but if you stream frequently and offer in-stream commissions, that can draw in people.
I don't know if this will be at all helpful, but I hope things pick up for you :<
