Not going to Anthrocon or any other con by Aldin

Those of you going, enjoy.

Me? I did the con thing in a different fandom (Trek) 20 some-odd-years back. Got to hold a door open once for George Takei at a con in Maryland. Got his autograph and that of Grace Lee Whitney at a con the following year in Texas. I donated both autographs to a charity auction but don't know how much they brought in. Through that experience, I realize I'm not into crowds.

At the moment, I'm very burnt from work and pretty tired of dealing with people as my work entails public contact on an almost constant basis. I just helped my office relocate to the other side of the city and have spent the last few days helping coworkers settle into their offices while my work falls behind. I stayed late tonight to play a little catch-up, though I'm still woefully way behind. As such, the last thing I want to do with my upcoming time off (or any upcoming time off) is meet up with a crowd in a city (shudder).

No, I'm going to plan some me-alone time. Got access to a camp in the Maine wilderness for a few days the week after the 4th and I'm gonna go hide-out there. Free rental to boot through a scout-contact. Hopefully, the road is passenger car (Impala) passable or I've got a 6 mile hike on my hands to get to said camp. :)

No electricity, no Internet, and no running water. Probably no cellphone reception, though I won't find out unless wife slips the emergency cell into my backpack (with it on) and tries to call me.
