The sound of vision by Zrcalo

Bats use echolocation. We define the world through our senses.
Screaming, scraping, the sound of trees being blown by the wind, the sound of birds.
Suffering has it's own voice and sound. We use our senses and intrinsic knowledge to know when to flee.

Rhythmic noises and repetition drives us into thinking it's a pattern. We tune these sounds out. The blowing of a fan, the hum of a television, powerlines buzzing. It's only when we pay attention that we notice these sounds that are so embedded in our daily lives.

Take those sounds, turn them up to eleven. Slow them down, make them squeal. Make the noises we find so comforting into the noises of fear. Arrhythmic noises startle. Loud noises. High or low pitched sudden bursts.

Without vision, we have no context. If you can close your eyes and see what you hear.. not hear what you see. Take away the visuals and use your mind to form what people are doing, what the noises are. What a painting would be based on a grid of high pitch, low pitch, treble, bass. What would those noises translate to. What the voice translates to with vision. Not the other way around. What would the sound track to a painting would be.

I dont want to hear music, I want to see it. I dont want words to convey a message. I want to be able to see the message without the words. If the words are from another language and I can still derive the meaning of the song through it's feel, that feel is universal. That is language. That is universal language.

I have learned to not tune my record player to throbbing gristle. It is near impossible to do. If you have not heard of throbbing gristle, I invite you to google them and their legacy.

I have a love for arrhythmic music. Music that has no form or typically no beat. Or a beat that makes no sense. Black dice is the lord of the beat that makes no sense.

I find that this style of music provides more vision and less immediate participation, though more in depth mental processes. It's particularly enjoyable when I have not heard the songs before. Or if the songs are so ridiculously long, I get lost in them. The best thing to compare these long songs to is Naked Lunch.

I found a throbbing gristle record at a used bookstore a while back, but only now got to listen to it, once I moved my record player around so I can get to it better without damaging things. I looked at the tracks and saw that I was familiar with the songs. No big deal, I had sex to that album before. Though, a different edition of it.

I was pleasantly surprised when half the tracks were entirely different versions of the songs. Versions I have never seen on CD's or mp3's. This album was a box set exclusive. The box set being $500. I was lucky to obtain this album for about $20. excellent condition.

Definitely one of my favourite albums.

EDIT:
WOW. I DID NOT KNOW WILLIAM BURROUGHS WORKED WITH THROBBING GRISTLE. HOLY HELL.
