Non-Furry Family News (good) by Aldin

About 2 hours ago, my younger brother was informed that he has been chosen to receive the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. This is the highest recognition that can be bestowed upon a volunteer leader for their service to youth within a council (in our case, the western third of the state of Maine). It is the BSA equivalent of a life-time achievement award.

I'm very excited for him as a fellow recipient (2012). My brother current serves as scoutmaster in his home town for what some in the district call the Troop of Misfit Scouts. He gets all the special needs kids and has the patience to deal with them. Some of these youth travel over 40 miles to attend meetings/outings with the unit. In addition he's been very active at the district level helping to restart 3 Cub Scout Packs, plan and run a camporee, volunteer at several other camporees, and serve on volunteer staff at summer camp.

Way to go, bro.
