Stream Commissions: I want to hear from you! by Amber-Aria

It's been three weeks since I started streaming commissions live, and I think it's safe to say that my in-stream commissions have been OVERWHELMINGLY successful. Like, holy crap you guys, I'm still reeling from the fact that space has sold out in my streams constantly, that I've had so many people tipping me and just... being so happy what they end up with from me. I can't thank people enough for being so consistently amazing and generous in both payments and even requests, and it seriously makes me wanna cry when I think about it too hard...

Now that we've had some time with this process, I'd like to ask all of you what you'd like to see, and what could possibly be improved. Currently, I've found that using a spreadsheet to show the scheduled times has been working rather well, since it's something I can update on the fly that everyone can see.

Are there any changes you would like to see to:

  • How you reserve a spot in the stream and future streams?
  • How you are notified for streams? (eg. Would it be better for me to post a temporary stream announcement journal on Weasyl along with the default notifications? Should I include stream schedule announcements in my email list? How early should I announce future streams?)
  • How the schedule is displayed, and what is on the schedule? (eg. I will be posting the stream rules on my schedule for easy access, but is there anything else?)
  • Which times I am available for streaming?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! <3

As for future streams, for the moment, please check my SCHEDULE HERE for info on when new streams will be opening and which spaces are available. I still haven't decided if I will be drawing for commission twice next week or just the one day...

    a) I'm not entirely clear on how spot reservation works at the moment, can it only be done during stream times or could it be done via notes as well?

    b) Your current stream notifications using weasyl and FA journal notices seems to be fairly effective, but having advanced warning with a journal with a link to the current schedule a day or two beforehand whould be good too.

    c) That spreadsheet is excellent, but you possibly could do with keeping a link to it handy either in the most recent journal or on your profile page?

    d) All the times XD --- But seriously, whatever works for you, it will be nice if some of the times occasionally overlap with times I can be in the stream so I can get things from you, all the things X3

      A) Currently, reservation has mostly been done via the stream. People would pop in to ask for so many hours on a certain day I'm available, and I would write their name down in that block as reserved. Then it would be up to them to email me beforehand with their info, so I'd have time to see their references and their idea. I'm a bit hesitant to use notes, though if a massive amount of people wanted to at least ask for their reservations via notes (NOT give me their actual info), I might consider it. As it is, people can ask me for a spot either in the stream, or request a spot via email that I would follow up on and confirm. :3

      B) Seems fair! I'll keep that in mind.

      C) Very good point! I'll make sure to put the link in a more visible space ASAP.

      D) Yeah, you always seem to be in the stream before or immediately after. xD What timezone do you live in again, just so I know?

With regards to A, I ask because if there are only certain days/times someone can make it to streams and they would like to book it, only to find that people in the stream at other times have already booked those times could be frustrating, having a second method other then during stream seems like it could be resonable (still requiring confirmation from you and yes, no details till confirmation as per usual).

And as for D) New Zealand Daylight Time (GMT+12) and I typically work 8-5 Monday-Friday, so my temporal overlaps for your timezone tend to be VERY late at night for you, or during the weekends where it is your Friday and my Saturday.

I'm mostly happy with how things are done, and plan to grab another spot soon. :3 Your times align with when I'm home after work, so it's pretty convenient for me. XD

Something that sounds picky: Your schedule lists times in PST/EST, even though we're on Daylight Savings now, so it should really be PDT/EDT. Sounds nitpicky at first, but someone from a non-North American country trying to use a time converter website may be thrown off.

I hadn't noticed the PST versus PDT thing. >>; That's a good thing to point out, and I've made sure to change it on my stream listings and such, for the sake of clarity. Thank you for letting me know about that!
